These advisories have been around for well over a year and IIRC they worked briefly then HD changed things up. BT has one for a time also. In early 2015 I took the RF advisory to get a flash and by the time I got to the dealer the Digital Tech software had already been changed and the options on the advisory where no longer available. I'm not saying this won't work and I think RF is trying to do the right thing but I have something that works now. I'm just a little battle weary I guess.

What RF and others have tried works IF the tech doing the flash does it correctly. Each time you update your software you may have to flash again, a giant pita.

DSP's seem to be the only solid choice now but even they have to be adjusted as hd changes up the software.... I shouldn't have canceled my be order for the retro kit

So I understand correctly the updates are more of a concern for Nav units vs the non Nav units? I could see wanting the updated maps etc vs updating the standard unit.

No map updates lol we wish! Those cost.

It's more of the fix the bugs ie start on USB drive if that's what you were doing last. It's a mess that gets me frustrated every time I have to think about it.

Correct, it's a temporary fix at best.

Yes, and every time HD attempts to fix something in the nav area they perilously break something on the audio side which includes stock systems. HD is doing a major disservice to all HD owner in regards to programing the stock HU.
I feel your frustration my friend.

HD charges $150 for outdated maps.
Here's a quote from the Rushmore forum that sound about right to me.

"I called HD and they tell me that a new update becomes available with new model year.
2014 got 2012 maps, 2015 got the 2013 maps and the latest is the 2014 maps for 2016 bikes. In August the 2015 maps will become available with the release of 2017 bikes."

Agreed, it seems every time you turn your back, HD has switched around the options & locations within the software. I think we've had to revise the screen shots about 3 times now just to keep up. However, each time we were able to re-flatten the curve.

We suggest if you already laid out some $$ to put a fix in place, it's probably best to keep that solution and not revert anything. At that point if it's not broken, don't fix it.

Wow. Wonder if this is Harmon Kardon or HD hoarding? Either way sounds like Nav unit to an extent is not worth it over just buying a Garmin or something.
