Well this isn't what you want to happen when setting gains. A compasitor in the crossover blew up. Please correct me if i did this wrong. I unplugged the leads to the woofers, undid the tweeters, left the inputs on the crossover connected and used that point to use my DD-1 and multimeter.
I didnt even get to the multimeter. I found the distortion point in the bridged rear channels and when I started adjusting the front channels i heard a really loud pop and found the compasitor blown up. I have to imagine the gain on both front and rear channels adjust both channels. And I'm guessing this won't be covered by warranty.
The amp has quick connects for the speaker wire leads and I've never been able to get a direct read from the amp.
Just ordered a new crossover, this time I'm going off the wires without them connected to the crossover. Live and learn i guess. Just have to rock the rears for a bit.
Lessoned learned today. The test tones can wreck about anything in just a few seconds. On my dummy load, in about a minute or two it is near glowing. I could heat a small room with it.
Mine are still breaking in. But they def sound good. And i had the focal 165 krc's prior.had the focals running off the pn4.1000. These hertz are running off the ppi 900.4
