Default 6X9 speaker lid question

Hello everyone...

I am in the process of adding speakers to the bags of my RKC. I bought 6X9 speaker lids and will be having everything painted next week. I have a couple of questions I was hoping to get some help with from those of you that have these lids on your bikes:

1) On these lids there is just 1 mounting hole for the tether where the stock bags of course have 2. How do you use the tether to support the bag lid with just the one mounting hole?

2) I know I need to add some parts to the lids to make them complete. I have purchased the wear plates to add to the new lids where the latch into the bag itself so that is no issue. However I need to add the weather strip around the inside of the lid. What have you guys used for this? Did you just go to Home Depot and get some adhesive back weather stripping or did you use some other option?

3) I am going with the soundstream amp as it has a bluetooth feature I really like. I was considering a double sided tape option to mount inside of the bag itself unless anyone has been able to find a different mounting location for the amp on a RKC?

4) Before painting should I drill a hole in the bags on each side to run my amp/speaker wires through?

Thanks everyone.

1 some use one of the speaker screws for the other tether attach point.
2 mine came with the weather strip (Bad Dad) but you can get it from Harley and other sources.
3 many use industrial strength Velcro which you can get at Lowe's home depot ace etc.
4 I would drill any holes prior to painting.

Thanks. I somewhat mocked it up and the existing other hole on the tether didn't seem to line up with any of the speaker screws unless I drill a new hole in the tether.

I would drill the new hole in the tether, one screw on the tether isn't going to get it IMO.

My Hogworkz lids had one attachment point and then I trimmed my custom tethers to fit. Little fab work goes a long way. I used one of the speaker mounting screws as mentioned earlier for the 2nd retention point. Also some places make tethers to fit the curve needed for 6x9 lids. Hogworkz has some they sent me and few others do as well.

Thanks for the suggestions....buelligan I also have the fairing factory lids with 6x9 openings.

How about any suggestions on whole size and grommets used to drill in the bags to run the speaker wires through? I am going to try and find locally some kind of quick disconnect plus for the speaker wire similar to the Deutsche connectors so I can get the bags on and off.
