I'm looking for those folks that have an amp in a saddlebag, driving speaker lids. In particular, I'm wondering what is required for mounting said amp and what's needed in the way of a wiring harness that still permits the removal of the bags. What advice would you offer?
I have my amps in my bags and I didn't do a quick disconnect yet. What I have done is ran everything in wire loom and made it easily accessible to pop wires off quickly. I have my 6x9 facing the wheels. Much much better bass that way. Don't know why....but trust what I tell you.
I'm not going to cut my bags, even if it means less bass. How did you mount your amp?
My amps are velcro to the outside wall of the bags. The tn4.900 was a breeze to mount because it slid right in under the groove that is below the latch. In the other bag, I had to use a piece of plywood in between the amp and bag because the shape of the amp wouldn't allow it to sit flush. I was hesitant on cutting my bags as well but did it for the speaker install. I still don't want to cut notches in the top because I don't want to deal with trying to get a good seal to keep out leaks and such. At least with the speakers facing the wheels, a flat surface was able to be created and seal out all water except for the water that hits the woofer cone...Most of which is pushed off anyways due to the movement of the speaker cone.

I'm looking to go this route as well in the near future. Let us know how everything works out for you. Speakers and amp in the saddlebags is my next mod.
