Default Need help with picking rear speakers

I have a 2010 SG and so far I have installed a Kenwood 998 HU, BT4180, BT 7.1 in Front Fairing and Hertz HCX 165 in the lowers. Now I want to add more thump or bass. There are so many options out there and folks have different ideas of what is best.

I do want it to sound decent at 70MPH but I am more focused on parking lot sounds. I am confused about some things that I have read on post here. Someone was talking about adding subs to his bags and someone else replied " I would not do that man, just throw some 8's in there and be done with it". Hell I thought 8's were subs.
Some guy said put 6x9 in the lids and 8's "in the bag". When he says "in the bag" , how is that different than the lid? Is he talking about mounting 8's to the side of the bag?
Another stupid question: How does water (rain) not enter the bags if you have a lid speaker setup? I do not want to worry about my gear in my bag getting wet.

Anyways, here are a few speaker ideas that I found after reading for weeks about this task. Please give your thoughts or any of your suggestions.

Digitial Design Audio AW6.5
Pair Hertz SV200.1
Hertz HCH 690
ARC Moto 692

should I go with subs, 6x9, or something else

I guess the Hertz SV200.1 is a midrange and not a sub, but will it provide enough bass? How would I mount it in the bag or in the lid?

Thanks again
Rick

How much bass do you want and how much volume do you want for the parking lot. It's tough to have both...and I mean LOTS of both. You will need more than one amp to accomplish this, not sure how much space you are willing to give up.

The Hertz SV won't give u any bass inside your bags. Your better off with the DDW8 if you want bass. You could do something like the AW in the fairing with 6.5 pro audio speakers in the lowers and lids in parallel with four horns, then another amp bridged to the W8's in the bags. That's should get you close!

Are you saying that the BT4180 cant support two more speakers? or if I went with a sub, couldn't I use the sub out port on the HU?

Is there an issue with rain getting into the bags if you have a lid speaker setup?

if you want to do it right.....no way. You need another amp brother. You can't combine different speakers off the same channel of an amp, much less to an amp you can't adjust. If you use the sub out of the radio it needs to go to an amplifier to then push your subs. At a minimum you need another amp.

^ exactly my point. I would also not even consider any " sub" without the proper mid bass drivers to support it. There are some good 8" speakers out there that will get plenty lower end rumble while maintaining vocals so they are still audible while riding. Hit Haze up @ baggeraudiolab and I would plan a redesign of your setup if your serious to go to the next level.

Are you saying that I could power good 8's with the BT4180 that I currently have along with my BT 7.1 and the Hertz in the lowers. If so which "8's" would you suggest. Right now the upper and lowers are running on different channels. Couldn't I run them together , freeing up the other channel for the rear stage?

I am building this system with the advice of the good folks here , so all of the componets are new based on what folks have suggested. I dont want to remove it at this point and throw it all out the door and start over just to add my rear stage.
I dont think the people that guided me to this point would have steered me down this path just to hit a wall and start over.

Thank you for any input.

Not with your current setup. In order to use that amp you need matching fairing and lower speakers to run off the front channels, and the rear could then run 8's. It will potentially have a slight lack of bass due to the preset internal xover and especially if you have line levelers. Best to just add a second amp.
