Well I made the switch to the aquatic. All I can say is wwoooooowww! I was using a Sony Mex-m 70bt which is a great radio but, it is no comparison to the aquatic. The sound on the aquatic is much clearer, better stereo separation more volume and less distortion. As stated by others the screen is hard to see in day light but the sound difference off sets that for me.
My set up is aquatic h/u, bt 71p in fairing, bt 477 in lower pods, Alpine spr 60 in rear pods, ss 1000 amp. All I can say is if your on the fence, jump to the aquatic side
Interesting! I haven't heard anyone say they got improved sound switching from a HU with adjustable EQ setting to the aquatic HU without EQ! Glad your happy with it, one of my buddies has on and instead of putting his phone in the cubby hole or it he has a gun hahaha fits perfect

how is your FM radio reception with that amp/hu combination?

Although I don't have the adjustments I had with the sony it still has much cleaner sound. It may have been the way the first installer put it in. The guy who put in the aquatic said it was a mess. He does nothing but bikes. FM reception is ok but not great. I don't know of any way to keep FM with a class D amp. I don't think my Ruger will fit in the tray but my USB stick does a great job. ( Ruger always on my belt)

I hated the Gen 2. Ditched in within a month of purchase. zukeepr you are one of the only few who have went to Aquatic and liked it better that I have ever known.

This answers the question as to why the Aquatic sounds better than the Sony. Improper installation and setup. Anyhow, glad to see you have a system that sounds good now.
Yea I am def going to have to agree with the rest on this one. I cant think of anyone that went to the Aq gen 2 and got better sound.. but by not installing correctly or having it set well could make a huge difference. Overall thats great you are happier with it. At the end of the day thats all that matters
