Advise; Road King fairing w/Quad 6.5
________________________________________
New member here, thanks for having me.
I would like to get some sound system advise on this new Quad 6.5 stereo system build.
This would be a detachable fairing batwing for a '03 Road King.
I would like to keep it simple Head unit (no CD), (4) 6.5's and an amplifier.
As of now after reading this form for hours my starting point:
HERTZ MPX 165.3 x4 (or would it be recommended to put two 6.5 subs?)
Amp not sure yet
Head unit not sure yet.
What's ur listening flavor? Metal, country, hard rock, classic rock, hip hop???
Loud as hell?
Bright?
Warm?
What's your budget?
There r plenty of damn good solutions available, but make sure u identify and hit the target right between the eyes on the first shot or its gonna get costly.
I'm gonna give you the most helpful advice that you'll get here on this forum. Please...for the love of God....don't put that hideous abomination on your bike. No amount of money spent on paint and audio will keep that thing from looking like a turd in a punch bowl. JMO!!!
I would go with something like a Reckless Fairing with a 2-6.5" setup. If you need more than that you could always add lowers or speaker lids. You can have a killer system with just 2 speakers.
Wasn't trying to hurt your feelings just being brutally honest.

I spoke with Reckless and they don't sell the XL without the audio system.
Also they are currently at 4 to 6 weeks on orders.
So I searched and for one on eBay.
What killer 2 speaker system would you recommend?

So far; (4) Hertz MPX 165.3
(1) Soundstream PN4.1000D
No Head unit

If I had 4 holes to fill in the fairing I would not fill all 4 with the same speak. I would seek out complimenting sets that would excel at specific freqs. Maybe a killer mid to high set that screams and a complimenting set that adds the warmth.
