I need the electrical gurus to read this, I'm one that likes to tinker on things so this was my project. So far all has gone well but I need a little info from the experts. It is radio related so this is why it is posted here and I know you who deal with stereo systems have seen some of these parts.
I really wanted a Limited when I bought my SGS but the money just wasn't right at the time and I knew the SGS was the only other one for me, not setting just was second option. After a year I have went full boar and changed so much it isn't practical to trade it in and start over and I'm super happy with the way it has all turned out... anyways here we go.
Bike
2016 Streetglide, 6.5 boom, added CB module, lighted hand controls and rider headset. Also has SSP1000.d, Arc 602, Alpine SPR80 and BT LL.
Project
Wanting to add rear passenger com and headset to factory specs
I just changed over the entire main harness to a 2014 Limited (eBay special $230). This sounds like a lot of work but really it was about a 6 hour job, plug and play operation other than converting the throttle by wire plug. Things I didn't think about was the Limited having an Engine Temp Sensor and 2 radiator fan wires but I am still using the 2016 Streetglide ECM and BCM so these were not searching for these items. All went well and the bike fired right up, no engine codes. Radio, hand controls, lights all work just like new. Perfect!
I mentioned the added stereo equipment above just so y'all know the rear speakers are working only because I originally ran the speaker wires from the amp to the rear pods, not using a fader option on the radio, it is factory flashed as a 2 speaker SGS. Still hooked up the same after I installed the Limited harness, not looking to use any factory speaker wires for sound.
So the problem are...
1. The rider headset is not working now and I think it is plugged in wrong now. On the SGS, the headset wire plugged into the large white plug next to the radio but I "think" it should now plug in to the 6 pin duestush plug next to the battery and rear brake light plug (this 6 pin plug is open on the Limited harness). Any idea from you Limited owners where your rider headset wire plugs into? In faring or under seat?
2. I acquired a used set of 2014 rear speaker pods with the factory passenger canbus switch pod and the headset port. When I plugged these into the Limited harness, I have no sound in the passenger headset or controls of these switches. Do I need to have the SGS radio flashed to work as a Limited? It is not being recognized on the radio.
Update... kept studying the manual and electrical book, I have confirmed the rider headset plug is under the seat next to the battery. I re pinned the wires from the 12 pin white plug under the fairing to the 6 pin black plug under the seat. Both headsets work now.
I still do not have the rear switch functions working. In headset mode I raise the volume with the handlebar control both headsets increase and decrease if volume is lowered. The handlebar PTT switch operates both headsets and the VOX volume control operates only the front set but both sets operate on VOX.
I can only imagine it has to be in a dealer flash for the radio to become a Limited.

Thoughts?
Thanks,

Nice work Jace! Studying the electrical schismatics it the way to go. I do suspect some dealer flashing will be needed to enable some functions.
Under the settings on the radio you will have an option for "rear controls" make sure this is turned on. If that's not there you will have to get the radio flashed to add this feature to the radio.

I went through all the settings again and didn't see this option so I must be left with a flash.
Thanks guys. Like I mentioned earlier I have more than enough in this bike than to just trade it in and start over because I want rear controls as the Limited/Ultras have. I built it my way and am very pleased with the outcome. This project was involved but really wasn't that bad other than not knowing if it really would work, but it did. I am running a 2007 CVO Tourpac because I didn't want to paint match and the black seemed to work on the bike. The 2007 speaker pods had to be slightly modified to look somewhat like '14 and newer setups. Now it is a Streetglide Special, Limited CVO. lol
