Most of the pieces are larger than a piece of paper yes and nobody had made it electronic when I did it, so I made the stencils for everyone. MstrTy scanned them in and its at the top of this page if you'd like to download the pdf but the problem is paper is flat and the fairing is curved. Ever try and wrap a soccer ball for Christmas and put it under the tree? How'd it turn out? The stencils, like the dynamat, sit on the curves of the fairing as intended.
So I was at a stereo shop yesterday to get my system tuned beyond what my ears could distinguish. Using whatever instruments they had, my system is sounding much better. They actually pointed out that I would benefit by adding sound dampening which led me to come a hunting here and wouldn't ya know...there's already a huge thread just for that! I'd love to use a set of the templates if I could get my hands on one if someone wouldn't mind passing a set through here to Georgia. I was not looking forward to half a weekend to perform this task! Pls PM if you happen to have a set you are done using.
The vast majority of us are not using the pods, thus the need for the sound deadening material. I couldn't tell you what good could come of doing the pods if any.
I just ditched my pods and installed the BT brackets. Now wondering about this Dynamat mod. For those who have done it, did you notice a big improvement in sound or just a little? I'm contemplating doing this mod but just doesn't seem like it would do a lot to improve the sound coming from the front speakers. Am I wrong?
Just because there is sound coming out the front, doesn't mean what's behind it doesn't matter. If you have a speaker in a flat open piece of wood it will sound one way. Now if you enclose that sound in a box, the speaker will change the sound coming out the front. If you add poly to the box it will change the sound coming out of the front of the speaker. Dynomating is not about weighing down the front in, it's to keep the sound waves that are being produced from the rear of the speaker from bouncing all around and possibly rattleing the fairing. When the sound wave's hit the dynomat, they are not bouncing off and going everywhere. While this is not sealing the fairing, it does help a but with the sound waves coming off the back of the speaker. Maybe you will hear a difference and maybe you won't. But I will tell you that it won't hurt the sound and can only improve it even if your particular ears can't hear the difference. Going down the highway, it won't matter unless your current set up is causing a ton of rattling

Aight guys who's next in line? I just finished outlining the stencils onto the Second Skin sound deadener by using a tracing wheel. Worked like a champ. Now they're ready for me to cut when I'm ready.

I'd love to get my hands on them. Just need one day, then I can pass them right onto the next
