Default Orion CM64 6.5" midrange/lowers guinea pig

Well ... Like SgtMic with his 6x9's, I thought I'd be the first to try an off brand 6.5" midrange for my lower pods. I'm currently running another set of $60 off brand midranges and they sounded very good, but I just wanted something that might play a bit louder. I did quite a bit of digging and pretty much set myself on some Orion CM64's. Before I made the whopping $52 purchase, I called Orion and talked to a speaker tech named Gabriel. I told him of my set up and how I'd be playing them. For the $52 cost, he said they were a no brainer. I removed one current speaker and installed an Orion. It was a noticeably fuller speaker and played distinctly louder. We'll see how they'll hold up over time, but they do sound really nice. Just waiting for the treated grill cloth to dry on the speaker gasket before final install.

Orion CM64:

On a side note, I was asked if I could wait till late April as Orion is releasing a new model to replace the CM64, a CM65. Same physical specs but a 180/360w power rating, 98dB sensitivity rating and a 120-12,000 Hz freq range. MSRP still will be < $100. Just some FYI...

2 things I noticed:
Sensitivity 96.5 dB
Frequency response: 120 - 10,000 Hz

Whereas the Pioneers at 124 are 92 db and 29-40000.
DD are 91 db and 40-25000

Congrats on becoming a guinea pig.

Mine are 6.5" midrange speakers for the fairing lowers versus your 6x9's for the lids
