I really think that JL280/4 is best served in the sled audio world as a bridged amp powering 2 speaks.
If he wants 4 speaks I think we need to try and find him a good yet inexpensive 4 channel amp that will fit on the HU.
The kicker being the desire to keep FM which hand cuffs u in a big way.
T.
100% correct as usual T. As good as the JL 280/4 performs its way better suited bridged to a 2 speaker setup. That amp rocks bridged.
4 channe setupl for that amp is better suited as a upgrade for a OEM vehicle/boat setup/factory upgrade.
This is what I know Ranger. Awhile back when everyone was running the Kappas my friend AAWAV bench tested some amps for us at the time. The sticky is posted on top of the forum. The soundstream PN4.1000D tested out at 237 watts @ 2 Ohms. I was running the Kappas in my upper and lower fairing at the time. 1000D pushing the Kappas. Road to Dallas from Indianapolis and back. Those speakers never blinked. Had my Sony 310 turned up on the 30 the whole trip!! All I'm saying is those speakers are a beast and they can take some power. I don't think 122 watts does em justice. So yeah I think it's a little light. The Op would be much better off with the Cerwin Vega B4 and the Kappas.
I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but I'm a noob to motorcycle audio at best. I ride a 2015 streetglide special. I like the clean look of just the factory speakers in the fairing and the stock head unit. I need solid advice on what size speakers and brand, and of course a solid amp to push them. Also, I listen to mostly rock/metal with some hip hop/rap, so decent mids are something I definitely want in this stereo. I've been reading the posts on here and Kappa speakers have been mentioned along with a couple different amps. Educate me guys.
