Default Which Gauges Did you Give UP

So mounting my horns in gauge holes and I can't decide what to give up. Fuel gauge I always have Distance to empty on the Odometer, but fuel is highly important. Voltage, you don't have any warning light other than "oh crap everything is going dim". Oil is the life blood of not hurting the engine, but it also has a light for low pressure. . . Really leaning towards taking out the fuel gauge and the air temp.

Problem 1) they are both on the left side, with the wiring reach the other side?
Problem 2) am I thinking straight with keeping voltage and oil
Problem 3) does the odometer distance to empty need the fuel gauge in the circuit to work?

Keep fuel and Voltage. No other bikes but touring have a oil pressure gauge.

^^^Agree with Slye!! I would always trade a oil pressure for an oil temp any day. I am building a custom RG so this may not be relevant. I needed two air pressure gauges, so I went to a Dakota Digital 4 in 1 gauge. Fuel, volts, oil temp, and oil pressure.

Thanks Slye. I was pondering this as well. But just to clarify is voltage more of an issue than low oil pressure on the pre Rushmore bikes. I was thinking oil pressure and fuel but Im new at this stereo stuff and will listen to experience from others on what to do.
Slye I see most guys mount the tweeters in the lower gauge holes. Is it more an aesthetics issue ?
Thank you

Look at it this way, you have a light, you see it you **** down asap. Voltage when you load the electrical system more important. Pre 13 hit and miss on stator and voltage regulator. I bought Dakota Digital gauges to retain fuel and air ride pressure gauges and then can select voltage in the tach or speedo to monitor, same with oil pressure. In lower holes mainly horns used. Some tweeters, but big size issue as most tweeters not large enough for the opening. I say tweeters in mesh grills, horns in gauge holes. 14 up mirror holes. This is for batwing anyway.

The only small gauge I pay attention to regularly is the fuel gauge. The red oil pressure light or my ears would alert me long before the oil pressure gauge would. And by then it would probably be too late anyhow. I would keep the fuel and voltage gauges.

Thanks SLYE . I was thinking of purchasing the Harley gauge blank outs then drilling those for fit. I will check out those Dakota gauges. Not doing anything to crazy just want a nice looking and sounding set up.

Thanks for the input gents. Makes logical sense, my bike is an 09 RG, I've just gotten so use to watching all the gauges I was having a hell of a time deciding which ones to give up. Fuel to me really isn't a worry, I spent a 250k miles on a couple bikes with no fuel gauge, so out of habit I still watch the tripometer and religiously reset it at the pump so I can/would have lived without it, but still like having it.

Voltage is the one I planned to keep, anyone that has ever lost a voltage regulator or a stater knows you can watch a gauge do crazy **** long before you get yourself stranded somewhere, not that my amp draws a ton, but still wanted to keep that one the most.

Now I just need my damn painter to not be a typical painter and get my inner fairing back together. Plan no is horns in the lower two holes, fuel upper left, volts upper right. See if haze/BAL has me dialed in or not. I'm HOPING my little fairing only system has me content for a season or two.
