I have 2013 Street Glide that I have added Hogtunes speakers and amp
to the fairing. Also added the sound bar. Its definitely better but not
at above 65 mph. Thinking about adding a new head unit that has more
power. Which one do you prefer? I want the controls and bluetooth mostly.
It's all about how much you want/can spend. That will be your starting point.
You can add just a H/U, which will make some difference. But if you really want it sounding better, especially above 65 mph, your going to need different amp and speakers.
And you've come to the right place to get information. I just finished my upgrade and everything I learned was from this forum.
I'm about to start my audio upgrade as well and ordered the Sony MEX-XB100BT which has a built in amp. Nothing super powerful - just wanted to give it a shot with two really good 6.5 speakers (which I haven't yet picked out.)

The stock stereo is just garbage imho.
That's a pretty sweet radio but that built in amp is gonna really disappoint you. Do yourself a favor and budget for an amp to go with it. I promise you'll be glad you did.
Well that's not good. If I were only going to run two speakers for the time being, what would you recommend? I can send the sony back and spend the extra for a good amp.

To keep from hi-jacking Hamps thread, send me a PM with a budget to work off of and I can help you line out a system. Or you can start your own thread and we can all chime in and help. But don't send back the radio.

cshocker and T are dead on point. Your issue is the amp and speakers. A new head unit won't help much. weak amp and weak speakers. Sell the hogtunes stuff and we'll set you up with a system you can hear at 80+. Harsh but honest critique.
