Default Mb quart

I have a pair of mb quart qsd 6.5 components. missing the tweeters. I've been trying to find if they're worth anything ? Supposedly they are high end old school when they were still made in Germany. Anyone know anything about them

Google it. There's a couple forums out there with quart enthusiasts. I know because I have an old set too from car audio days and I looked them up to see if they were still worth a damn. Short answer is without the tweeters, they're not worth much of anything and if you had the tweeters and original crossovers you're still not going to sell them for anything worth the trouble. They kicked *** in 1989 though!

The question is are they maxxsonics version or not. All my q series were qm ( true original German made) so I am believing these to be maxxsonics and have the non titanium tweet. If not the titanium I would let them go. May be able to find some on the bay but I wouldn't bother.

Ah, someone who finally talks my language!

MB Quart made some damn fine equipment back in the day, in fact, I'm still rocking my QM160TC/QM19HC combo. Great speakers...very detailed. The tweeters can come across a bit on the bright side, but that is easily tamed.

As far as your question, I'm not 100% certain, but if my memory is correct, the QSDs were one of the last sets still made in Germany. Without the crossovers and tweets, I'm not sure how much interest these would bring, especially with everyone chasing the latest thing these days.

Just curious, how did you come across them?

I have the RWE160s with the "made in Germany" hologram sticker across the left side of the magnet. I've had mine since the mid 90s when I was doing car stereo comps running phoenix gold M50s so I could stay in the 0-100 watt class! I miss those days.

Oh man, the late 80's to early 90's were the golden days of cheater amps...sonic beasts capable of 1 ohm, and in some instances, 1/2 ohm loads. The amps by PG, RF, and Orion were seriously underrated when it came to their specs.

I built most of my vehicles with a/d/s, MB Quart, and SoundStream components (back when those names meant something in the car audio circuit), and have just recently been toying with the idea of retro-fitting my Durango with some of my equipment that is currently sitting on the shelf. It should make for a fun project.

Sorry for going off-topic on you, Brent Michael; it was just fun to talk old-school audio for a bit.

Since this has gone to old school audio I have to chime in with a great story.
I had an Alpine 6909 head unit back in high school. I never sold it and packed it away in the basement, along with a couple old RF punch 45 amps and an Audio Control crossover. I was at the stereo shop looking for some bike amps and the owner, (who worked there when I was a teenager) asked if I still had my 6909 head unit? I said that I did. He said, "you may want to put that on eBay, I've seen them go for a $1000". I raced home, dug it out and put it on eBay immediately. Long story short, it sold fro a great price, especially since I live in Canada and got U.S. money for it.
