Default BT30s in hogtunes grill

First I'd like to thank everyone here for their efforts and knowledge. I ended up working with Alex/Haze/BAL and purchased DD AW6.5s and BT30s. I know I've read it here before, but can't find it again...what is the preferred method for drilling/cutting the holes for the tweets in the grills? I feel like a hole saw will just shred when it digs into the holes on the grills. I know I'll get some tested expert advice here.

Personally I think the easiest way is to use a knockout punch and the use a dremel to enlarge the hole. Harbor freight has a a 10 piece for like 25 bucks. That's the way I did mine and didn't have to fight that hole saw.

I just did it today! There's a thread somewhere out there on this forum where a plywood jig and a 2-1/4" hole saw was used. I tweaked the design a bit by making a CAD drawing to help with hitting dead center on the grill. I printed out the CAD template at full scale, taped it to the piece of plywood to accurately transfer punch the hole locations. After drilling the 2-1/4" hole, it needs opened up about an additional .040" with a rotary grinder for the tweeter to fit. If you want more info, pictures and a pdf of the template, send me a pm with your email address.

Couple a questions here. 1). Is nobody using the nut that comes on the back of the housing to mount these in the grills? 2). How is everybody routing the wiring for these. 3). are you using shrink tube on the wires to conceal them better. Thanks.

I put some clear silicone on the back side of the tweeter flange and also some on the jam nut to help dampen vibration and for piece of mind. Since I didn't use speaker cloth, you can slightly see the wire through the grill and behind the large BT30 housing. Black shrink wrap is a good idea to disguise it.

There are better ways to mount the BT30's. Just need to be creative. I personally don't care for the tweeters in the grilles.

You should expand on those other options. Might help someone with options.
