There has to be some tiny little screw head or nut or washer in the way of a perfectly recessed fit. Go on that Easter egg hunt bro. U will find it!!!!

I don't think ur the only one but have a feeling u will be one of the last ones.

They have good stuff but it appears the logistics associated w these lids are a nightmare.

The fitment in the photos looks pretty good. Keep in mind that the grilles are not designed to sit flush in the Harley-Davidson Boom lid or in our lid. The fitment in bobbyjoes' pictures is pretty consistent with that of an OEM lid with an OEM grille.

What you're mostly seeing is variation in the Harley-Davidson speaker grilles. Harley-Davidson has certain tolerances for the grilles and they vary from part-to-part. For example, we've measured 1/8" difference in the width of the 1997-2013 generation grilles. The 2014-2017 grilles are more difficult to measure due to their shape so I can't exactly quantify the variation of those, but you can see tolerance variation in the newer grilles when comparing several parts side-by-side.

Attached are several pictures for reference. You will notice that the grille fitment is not great on the new 2017 CVO Street Glide in the dealership photos. These are OEM Harley-Davidson lids with OEM grilles shown in the attached photos on the black saddlebag lid.

By comparison, I think you'll find that the fitment of the Bad Dad lids with OEM grilles is better than the factory lids on the Amber Whiskey Road Glide and the white Fat Boy in the photos. Our fitment generally meets or exceeds the factory requirements, and these pictures support that.

Again, these photos suggest there is variation in the grilles, and that the Harley-Davidson fit is not extremely precise. Regardless, the variation is really negligible once the parts are on the motorcycle. I think you'll find that it looks great once it's painted and installed, just like the CVO and the other bikes in these pictures.

Based on the pics posted in bobbyjoes original post, I didn't think they looked bad either. There's 4 rubber washers/spacers that sit down in each of those holes. you could replace all 4 washers and see if having a consistent "uncrushed" rubber spacer would make a difference. From the pics you posted though, they don't look bad.

EDIT:::>
I just looked at your pics again bobby...
Yeah, that would bug me too. Try new rubber in there or see if one is sitting cockeyed?

Bad Dad items are custom motorcycle parts that are pretty pricey, fit and finish should be nothing less then perfect in my opinion. Two guys this past week have had to spend much of their assembly time on the phone with BD to get their audio equipment to work with BD lids. So glad I went with HT lids the fit and finish is awesome and the assembly and install was a breeze.

Who were these two guys? Scott and I receive all the phone calls at our shop. Neither of us remember anyone having any notable difficulty with anything last week, but it is possible. It'd be really helpful if you can tell me who these two are. Thanks in advance!
