I have a 2015 Street Glide CVO. It came with the Boom 2 Audio system which is apparently crap. I have less than 3600 miles on it and the left faring speaker has blown. Has anyone replaced their whole system? What did you get and how much did it cost you? Thanks in advance.
Hey Badger, welcome to the forum. Yes, most of us have replaced our whole system, some of us have done it several times over in search of the unicorn. I was one who fell victim to the Boom Audio mirage. I was afraid to open up my bike and install aftermarket stuff so I opted for what I thought was the easy button. It never met my expectations and so it all came out and half of it is still sitting in my rafters. Adding more Boom equipment is the equivalent to smashing your head into a brick wall repeatedly. Remind me what the CVO SG comes with? Fairing, Lowers and Lids?
You'll want to focus on a really solid 4 channel amp and your fairing speakers. Lowers and lids will help fill the sound around you but the majority of your volume will come from the two in front of your face. Check out the last 4-5 pages of the vid thread (sticky on top of the audio section). Figure out what you're looking for, see what others have done, come up with a budget and a goal and we'll help get you going in the right direction.
My SG CVO comes with the four speaker set up in the faring (one midrange and one tweeter on each side) and a speaker in each saddlebag. I have found that Rockford Fosgate has built a system, amp and speakers, that are made specifically for the Harley system and as close to plug and play with the system as you can get. Apparently J&M Rokker has something similar as well. I will probably replace all the Harley Boom System junk with one of these or something similar as Im still researching. Thank you all for the replies. Ride on, live on and stay safe.
