Since I have the fairing off to do a handlebar upgrade on my 04 FLTCSE, I figure it's a good time to ditch the Hawgwired 6.5's. I do want to keep my reference 400w amp though.
I've been looking and looking and looking. I thought I was going to go with the Focal 165 KX2's, and I don't mind spending the money for them, but after reading and more reading I don't know if the extra cash is worth it.
I realize that after about 70mph, it really doesn't make a whole lot of difference on what speakers are running because the wind distorts the sound to the point it isn't good SQ anyway.
That being said though, lol, I do want loud and clear as possible! I really don't want to drill holes in my fairing to run the external tweeters but I am not dead set against it.
Like I've said before...Alpine Type R will hang with or beat any 6.5" speaker out there and they are reasonably priced to boot. I have 4 on my Bird (2 in fairing and 2 in lower fairing) and it absolutely jams!

OK - but I am back to mounting the tweets somehow. Just wish there was a grill like booms that you could stuff a tweeter into it.
A component will get u the most bang for your buck. All of us that don't want to jack w the fairing are simply getting the hawg wired metal grills and drilling tweeter holes in there and covering with grill cloth for extra waterproofing. U never even know that r there.
Correctly the DD AW w AT28 or 30 tweets are the hottest thing going. And yes I have run the Focal KRXK2. Save ur money brotha!!!!!
If the grills are a concern I will drill the holes for u and pop the tweets in.

You need to get out a little more brother. The world is passing you by.
