With a king you got 2 choices settle for mediocre or go ***** out. No in between. If bag space is no concern run a pair of 8's or even 10's, dd vo 6x9 and a set of horns. All can be fed off a single amp. Add a bluetooth adapter ( JL has one around $40). That setup you will hear well and not lack anything. That is the only way to do it without lowers. Bagger Audio Lab can make this a reality really quick
I added the little speakers on my bars of the RK. Sound decent at low speeds. Highway speeds you have to max them out and its all highs no base so it hurts your ears.. it worked ok for me but def nothing that you say to yourself "oh wow that sounds good". You can kinda see the speakers Im talking about in the pic...
Much appreciate guys. This will certainly save me coin that I can use for other parts of my build. Wheels going on this weekend and bags off to paint tomorrow. Ordering earbuds today as it is what works best for me as I'll be able to use them for other things too.
One of the problems with ear buds is that they are illegal in most places to wear while driving. They are even illegal to wear riding a bicycle.
Up here in Canada you can wear one in one ear only and for hands free phone only you can not play music through them.
Another problem is if your riding with friends and you pull up to a light and they want to talk you cant hear them cause your music is going in your ears an you don't have an easy way to mute it.

Just a thought.

I have definitely thought of that. Most likely on group rides I wouldn't be listening to music as I truly do love the open air and sound of my exhaust. Just really for the morning work commute where I like to listen to something so I'm not talking to myself too much. LOL
