MUSIC MASTERS UNITE....
Looking to add audio to my 2003 RK Anniversary. I'm not a fan of gaudy speaker setups and lowers and fairings are not really an option with the build direction I'm going. So my question...
Would speaker lids, a few 6x9s and a bluetooth amp push some good tunes my way? Looking at getting the CVO styling speaker lid where the grill wraps over the front of the lid, which to me makes it so that the sound travels forward a tad more? I could always add/hide (somehow) some bullets up front down the road I guess if I felt the need to be surrounded.
Bags are headed to paint shortly so if this is a good option I should pull the trigger now on these lids so I can get them in one paint session.
Thank you all for your time and advice.
Oh yeah... I'm currently looking at these style lids from Mutazu...

a single set of 6x9's will be ok for parking lots and cruising around town but out on the highway, you'll be hard pressed to hear it let alone enjoy it.
I guess that's my overall fear but I'm good to add bullets upfront down the road a bit. Just want to get these into paint if it's something I should be grabbing so I do it once and forget about it.
So so if I ran these along with 2 kicker bullets upfront I should be surrounded in music nicely.
I would suggest you save your money! Without real speakers upfront you will barely hear the lid speakers while moving and with a small AMP wont be much better parked. I promise you, you will not be satisfied with the system you are planning.

But would you agree both bullets up front and rear lids would be a good chocie? Or ditch the lids altogether and just run pods up front?
bullets or pods aren't real speakers. as advised, save your cash and buy some bluetooth earbuds if you want to hear the music
Now THAT is what I'm talking about! Great advice! and a good pair of these is something I've been wanting for mowing the lawn alone, double duty now for the motorcycle.
Please understand I am just trying to help you. I had an 04 RK and added two 5.25's to the crash bar with RF 300x2 (was not happy) added two 6's to each bag lid with a RF300x4 (was better but still subpar) then added a RAZR pack with two tweeters and a 12" sub pushed by a RF 500x1. When it was all said and done it was loud as hell standing still but I wished I had spent the money in performance upgrades/ a nice pair of headphones.

Thank you!
you're welcome. may I suggest looking into a set of Sony MDR-XB50BS...the XB stands for "extra bass". they are great for listening to hard rock or any other heavy on the bass tunes. they are water resistant and the way they mount to your ears keeps them locked in. I looked at a bunch of different kinds and decided on these, around 50-60 bucks USD.

it's experiences like yours that stopped me from going nuts on stereo equipment, I had started upgrading and read more than a few stories like yours...went with the earbuds and saved a pile of cash, and have tunes as loud as I can stand. thanks for your honesty
