Default Need some music please

First off hope everyone is well and looking forward to spring unless you live out west and have been riding all year long. lol I have been doing some research and as many of you know the information and suggestions change every few weeks as people try different set ups and find new speakers and amps that do more for less cost. I have a road king bagger that I'm currently running 6.5 lids with Polk MM651 powered by a Kenwood 22154656 600x4 amp. So I'm ready to take it up a notch or two as many guys are running some great Hertz systems and I can only hear their music when they are next to me. I have a custom but classic look to my lids and don't want to really go to the crazy 8's. I just think they may take away from the look of the bike or maybe it's just me. I was in touch with Alex briefly at the end of last season and he was suggesting MMatts and some horns. I'm not sure if he is still on here but I know a few other things have surfaced and I want to get the best set up available now. I do mostly city and highway riding so loud and clear is the goal. I don't need to win the loudest parking lot contest. I have lowers 6.5 that I'm open to installing since I was told it's the only way to get some front sound as most of the rear wil be going away from me no matter what I install. The other option I'm exploring is a chopped tour pack but again I'm not sure how much it's going to change the look of the bike. I do want some storage for jackets and other things when i go away for long rides and that is my concern with installing 10 or 8 inch speakers in the bags. Last is the unpredictable New England weather. If I go with MMATTS or PRV's or something along those lines what can I do to protect them from an certain downpour and not drown the speakers and my pockets. Thank you in advance for your feedback!!

Yu can get your Mmats speakers marine treated from the factory.good stuff. Other brands may need to be treated with camp dry or another similar product.

I guess my long post was not very clear. I would like to know which speakers speakers some of the experts here would recommend for my road king set up? Lids, any in the bags and lowers?

American hard bag has a cool, handlebar mounted hertz tweeter set up, that paired up with a good amp and some mmats pa601 or prv neo's in lowers might work out well for the front, then HogTunes lids with DD V0 6x9's with a bridged dd b3 horn to run the rear.

You have no power brother. First thing you need to do is sell that amp. 50 x 4 gets you nowhere on a motorcycle. Amp is very weak. Secondly two 6.5 Polks in the lids is a bad idea as well. So what you're looking at on a RK if you are wanting to save space is some SBD lids with 8's and horns. 6.5 pro audio speakers in the lowers driven by a 4 channel amp that produces at least 150 watts per channel.

Thanks Gannicus! I really didn't want to go with the SBD 8 lids because I think they may look funny on the bike. I was thinking of maybe a 10 inch in one of the bags, some pen horns in the kids I have now (if I can make them work and fit into the 6.5 opening somehow and 6.5 in the lowers. Just not sure if all prv or prv and mmatts in the lowers. And if i add the tour pack i would keep the amps there.

I don't want anything on the bags. Trying to keep it as clean as possible and still get a bang on the sound.

thats a good looking bike. I’d do an 8 in each bag before I did just one 10.

Oh and I think some SBD lids on stretched bags and a RK look and sound great!
