Default Tour pack speakers even worth running?

I am beginning to wonder as I'm thinking of upgrading my amp and speakers if I should even continue to run the rear tour pack speakers.

When I have my wife on the bike her legs cover up most of those speakers and I'm just starting to think maybe it would be better to just do fronts and get those loud?

There are also also lots of times I run without the tour pack on.

Anyone else done this?

if you ride with a passenger 100% of the time or without a tourpak when you don't have a passenger, then you might have a valid consideration but if you think you don't get any sound from the rear you're mistaken. I hate riding without my TP because I lose so much fill from those speakers that it drives me nuts. You're correct that a dragon in the passenger seat is nothing short of a mute button for the rears but you absolutely get valuable sound from back there. The second part of your question, is anyone else doing it? Lots of guys run without a tourpak...like everyone that rides a street glide. To name a few, Slyedog, pdevore, Michigan Matt, cshocker, Covert Olds, Haze....the list goes on...and they all have sleds that absolutely rip but the fact FOR ME is that there's holes for speakers back there and so I'm putting them back there because it sounds good to me.

Well I just took the pack off for the first time this week and I am sold on riding without it when I don't have a passenger...it just feels better.

I am just so torn

All of your threads about audio are relevant to one another so keeping everything under one thread makes things easier to keep up with.

If you're rarely going to use the TP then I wouldn't bother upgrading those speakers. If it were me I'd add speaker pods to the lowers and go from there. The more sound you can put in the front of you the better.

Is it easy to add the pods to the front lowers later?

Yessir. Just as easy as it would be to do it now.
And it can be done fairly cheap.

Tourpack, absolutely. Front lowers, absolutely. The beauty is with both options you can make the tp a quick disconnect and still have fronts.
If the tourpack is done correctly I assure you that your not going to want it off of there when your by yourself.

If you have good speakers up front and just one four channel amp id rather send more power to those speakers bridged then put speakers In locations you won't hear as much.
