I'm gonna bet 5 bucks that it is not the HU. Something in the install is not right.
T.
I'm thinking the same thing T. I know this is stupid, but just have to ask since so many people struggle with this, and never know it because the connection seems good when checking. Could they have used the wrong size female spade connector? See it all the time. Installer just crimps it down with needle nose pliers or such, and isn't detected Because the push/pull or wiggle check doesn't reveal it.
Yeah but Mike can't see what kind of potential hack job that may have been done with all the other important details associated with an install.
Give a sled audio guy 10 mins of physical hands on and I bet it's an easy task to isolate.
OP, did u send all the LLs back for inspection as there has been a history at BT of these being pinned wrong?
T.
Hi, I did send both LLs back and Mike said they tested good. He is sending one back. Should have it in a couple of days.
I trust the guys who did the install, but I understand that you never really know. I'm thinking if the instal was the probelm wouldn't it have the same affect on the replacement converter too? The amp and speakers and all wiring is the same and it works now, alothough it has some dis tortious that it didn't have with the LL. I'll take some pics with the fairing off when I reinstall and post.
Forgot to mention, the car audio guys said the LL was not good.
Thanks guys

Reason: Added fairing pic statement
First off "CAR AUDIO" is a red flag
This has to be a problem between the amp and speaker connections. If the LL has been checked and right then isolate from the RCA feeding the amp all the way to the speaker leads. Is the amp set correctly? HP/LP set in the right spot? When the fairing is off does it do the same thing as when it's on? Does it do it with the bike running and off?
If it were me and nothing was obvious to my eye, I would re run new speaker wires, new rca and re-set the amp.

The amp is not adjustable, has no gains to manipulate, and the RCA cable are new. I swapped them out about 2 weeks ago when I took out the LL and put in the new converter. The original install wS done by a good indie HD guy. I only used the car Audi guy to test the LL. I guess i could run new speaker wires, but the speakers are both working now that the LL is replaced with the converter, so the are getting a signal. Just not as clear and distortion free as the whenthe LL was in ... and working.

Just don't get overzealous and rip out the HU. If I were a betting man, that's not the issue. In many cases like this it can be very basic shix regardless of your respect for the installer. We all have had days and bad luck.
