My mistake on the amp. I forgot that we were dealing with a BT amp. There's a gremlin somewhere, we just gotta track it down

There is one thing that everyone seems to be missing here: the right speaker crackled with the LL installed, but not with the converter installed. Regardless of how bad they sound with the converter, the problem is obviously with the LL. Since the problem was intermittent, BT may not have caught it when they tested it. The common thread here is the LL. Once you get the LL back from BT, install it and wait for the problem to occur and swap your RCA cables on the LL. If the right speaker started cracking originally and then left speaker starts crackling when you swapped the RCA's, swap the speaker wires on the amp. If the left speaker keeps crackling, it's the LL. If the right one starts crackling, it's the amp.

Yep. I see the weak spot as the LL also. I have swapped the RCA cables on the LL and the same speaker is the one that continued to crackle. Again no crackling with the new converter so I dont understand how it could be the ground wire as some have suggested.

I have tried 2 LLs from BT and they both did it. The new converter does not. BT seems to believe it is a signal probelm from the HU but cannot confirm due to the 'closed' nature of the HD software.

Still waiting on the return of the LL. Just in case that does not work can anyone suggest a good DSP for a road glide? Easy to install? my skills are pretty limited. Probably better if I have a pro do it.

Anyone know a good place in the San Jose ca area for this kind of work? I've done a few searches and seems hit and miss.

Thanks

After removing the LL I no longer have the intermittent speaker issue. It just sounds distorted from both speakers but is completely consistent. I need to figure a way to flatten the signal from the HU now. Thinking the DSP might be the way to go.

Not sure which ones will work with the BT amp. I've got a message with Mike at BT and hope to hear tomorrow.

Default Update

Well, the new line leveler came today and I popped it right in. Took it out for about an hour and so far so good. High way speeds near full volume. The first one that had the probelm didn't start till about 2 months in. So Here's hoping this is the end.

On a side note. I did have the dealer do a flash for 0 amps and 4 speakers a couple of weeks ago. I have to say it does not seem quite as clear as it once did but I could be remembering wrong.

Would there be any harm flashing back to 0 amps and 2 speakers? Hate to mess with it if it's working.

Thanks.

Leave the flash alone for now. Conduct a HU reset. Instructions should be on the BT inter-web site.
