If you go with 8s you are stuck with Speed By Design Twisted 8s like I have or Voodoo 8.8 lids with an adaptor ring for 8" speakers (or go with the JL M880). The Voodoo lids are the more expensive route. There are also the Speed By Design Loud Daddy lids for the JL M770, but that is the only speaker that fits and it's the greatest option, ask Bunker.
There are several 5x7/6x9 lid options. Just have to decide if you want an 8 (or M880) or 6x9.

I love the SBD stuff but do yourself a favor and don't run the M770's, they are basically 6.5's. I mean it that works for you go for it but if you want 8's you need to go Twisted's (8 + horn) or /shudder, the voodoo lids :/
Is there that much different is sound quality running the 8" with tweeter? Sorry for all the questions, I just bought my road glide a couple months ago...came from a softail.

Can u be more specific? Maybe a scenario u have in mind?
I have been beta testing the new TMS69BL14 for Rockford Fosgate. This kit comes with the template to use your existing lids. They look great, sound great, and are an easy install. I am glad I waited before buying extra lids.
