My stock radio is starting to act up. I currently have a CV B52 amp and JL Audio C3 6.5 speakers in the fairing. I noticed a while ago the cd player was acting up, I use a bluetooth adapter in the 3.5 jack anyway. Now I'm having issues getting the jack to recognize the adapter, sometimes I'll have to plug it in a few times before it picks it up. Now today the volume started ramping up to max on it's own. I could turn it down, but it would go up again, then it would be fine. Anyway, I'm leaning towards the Aquatic unit and wondering which one you recommend? Is it worth the extra for the more expensive unit?
I went with the higher end unit because I heard the USB inside doesn't charge, only for playing music and I have a iPod nano I like to leave in there. I also wanted the option of having Sirius radio for when I take a longer trip and might be in areas where I can't get a data signal for streaming services. Another added benefit was the large clock display it has and it also came with a USB charging port that replaced the cigarette lighter.
Just installed the top end unit over the weekend and it sounds great, you won't really be able to read the display, it is a real issue that they need to address in future models, but over all i'm happy with the sound and ease of installation, truly plug n' play. Spoke to SiriusXM and will be doing a 6 month plan on the satellite service, no point in paying for it if i'm not on it.
i bought it thru amazon, bought the satellite connector separately. was only 45 dollars, bought the high end speakers as well check out aquatic ac's website, they also offer an amp, plan on getting it at a later date once i see some reviews
I don't think the display is as bad as some make it out to be, sure in some cases the glare on it makes it tough to read, but I'm more interested in watching out for the next idiot that's going to pull out in front of me. I picked mine up from Abt.com while they were having a Memorial Day sale
I have the $300 model and have no problem seeing the display even with the sun at my back. At first I thought the USB wasn't charging because it didn't show on the phone when I plugged it in. Apparently once you put the faceplace back on the USB is enabled. I'm very happy with mine. For short hops around town it automatically connects to my iPhone on my belt carrier. For longer trips, I put it inside the unit.
Just bought mine today...
Should be here thurs.
My HK head unit lost the right side channel 2 weeks ago and now doesn't function at all...
I'm gonna run it with 6.5" kappas...no amp for now.
Planning on adding a CV b52 or a soundstream at a later date if I detest the way it sounds.
I installed Kappa's with my Aquatic and ran it like that for a little while, definite improvement over stock. I can't say that I had any real complaints about them, but when I installed the pn2.350d, HOLY CRAP! They say the Kappa's really like some power and the Soundstream for sure woke them up. I really miss the AVC with them because I constantly have to turn them down at stop lights.
