It's funny you posted this I was going to post something today about products. Recently on one of the Facebook competition groups I noticed that 4-5 of the Victory guys all ran Massive Audio amps. This is a budget brand similar to Soundstream, then I received a few messages about products and 3 of the guys were running DB Drive speakers, and two were running the same 10's. So I asked them how come and it turns out they have a forum just like this one and when one guy runs something they all start using the same stuff. The catch is....that stuff isn't that good. It's the group think mentality and now that they are on a forum outside of their circle they are baffled that there's other things out there.
The audio world is HUGE!! There's products from all over the world that sound great. I get it that things often get "validated" to save guys from spending money on a crappy product but I encourage guys to try out new things. That may sound a bit awkward being that I only use the same 4-5 brands on every build, but I know what I like. Doesn't mean I don't continue to try new products....I just haven't found any that I like enough to replace what I'm currently using.
I did try the Fosgate DSP recently. I prefer the Arc but for the price it's not bad. So there's one for you.

Well Alex I guess I'm kinda guilty of the same thing...i was gonna do a full system based on your expertise...well if I did it myself it was gonna be per yours and Gannicus ( hope I spelled it right) recommendations..i was gonna do a set of 6.5 prv in fairing with a set of b3 horns...and in lids another set of prv b3 horns all powered by a jl audio 600/6 amp...im sure in the end it would be absolutely amazing...HOWEVER if I did it myself I would of just ran the horns off my jl 280/4 And the 6.5 and 8s off my as pn4 1000 because I already have them...im sure u guys would recommend against em for 2 reasons...1 you guys are like 2 years ahead of me on trial and error and technology and #2 you have a audiophile ear...a ear that can tune a system in to Crystal clear...even if I had all the equipment in the world I couldn't it's just not a skill I have...so I guess what I'm saying is I'm gonna spend probably 500-600 on a KILLER amp cause it's recommended by the pros (who I respect very much by the way) And of course I'd do that because I follow your work and admire all your builds...you go to a competition and just kill it..that in my eyes would alone give u all the credibility in the world
And this is just a curiosity thing Haze..i know u keep a few things incognito but of the ones u could tell us...tell us some of your favorites today...amp...mids...and since your in close ties with PVR...i thought i heard prv had a few new speakers in the works..do they plan to make a new version of the 6.5 that more install friendly with same sound they're known for

Nope! I used to think this way, I used to think I had to keep "secrets" in order to be successful, that some magical speaker or amp that no one knew about would make me better than others. I see people doing that now and nothing can be more wrong than that. If a customer walks into my shop and listens to my bike and says I want THAT ---- he or she will get the exact same bike that I have, same speakers, settings, to the T.
Alex, since we are talking about new products, what can you tell us about the Stetsom amps?
Like anything....some are good some are not. We like some of them for certain builds. It's tough to answer these open questions without knowing what someone is trying to do. We did a build using one recently, only because for that specific customer and build it was a good fit and it came out great. I've tried some that have very good clean power, others that seemed underpowered. PRV owns Stetsom so we have full access to their line. I think it's really dependent on the customer and what they are putting together.
How about anyone else? Anyone else try new stuff out?????
Well it's not necessary a product I tried out but a flash...i know i know many people have a bad taste about jm John on these posts and will Shut him down in minutes..i know and agree his product are well overpriced BUT when I messaged him he seemed to have tons of knowledge as far as the technical part of the 6.5 hu...i am very close to their office in tucson az so thats a big plua for me...He told me exactly how he'd go about flashing my head unit and what to expect...and honesty for the end result I think it turned out great

Did you start with the BT LL and then move to the flash? The flash is an improvement over the LL?
