I have a 2014 Street Glide Special and looking to upgrade my speakers and add 6x9 speakers and lids with one amp that can push speakers with-out getting hot, shutting down, and distorting. ANY HELP and/or SUGGESTIONS??????????????
C103P I'm in the same boat as you. 2012 Street Glide. I'm not looking for a competition type system, just a much better upgrade over stock. This is what I'm considering -
Amp - Arc Audio 600.4 or the new Focal FDP Sport
Fairing - Hertz HCX 6.5 or Polk MM652 (probably the Hertz)
Bags - Polk MM692 6x9
The Polks in the bags because everything I've read they are lighter weight and marine grade. There is probably some that may be a little better but have bigger magnets and heavier. If I decided to add lowers at a later date I'm thinking I could get another set of Hertz or Polk MM652 and run them in parallel with the fairing speakers. Cost wise I would say it's not super expensive and not cheap. I think a good middle of the road system. Anyone with any thoughts? Thanks.

@JAGlide thanks man. There is so much out there and you read different reviews (good and bad) makes it hard to make a good pick. I like and want clearity when cruising at any speed

@JAGlide are the speakers you suggested all marine grade and wheres the best place to shop for them?

The Polks are marine grade. I've seen them on ebay for $150 for the MM652 (6.5") and the MM692 (6x9) for $180.
The Hertz HCX 165 is not marine grade, but I'm not so concerned about that in the fairing. They are anywhere from $180-$200.
The Arc amp is going to probably be over $500 and the Focal I've seen online for anywhere from $699 to $799
I would just shop around online but I think you can be in the $900 to $1200 range depending on which of these you would go with. I'm just starting out in this audio stuff and have done a lot of research on this forum. I think biting the bullet and getting a good amp right of the bat is the best way to go if you can afford it. Speakers you can change and upgrade how you see fit. Maybe some of the guys with more knowledge will chime in with their opinions on these Speakers and amps and maybe some other suggestions in this price range.

Thanks was just on crutchfield website checking the speakers out and saw the Hertz wasnt marine grade. Read reviews on them and majority was great reviews. Really pushing for all marine grade speakers just as a precaution. I have the Hog Tunes Speakers Lids (6x9). Read a few places that these lids only fit hog tune speakers and that any other speaker could prolly leak and get inside of bags wet along with whatever is in the bag. Would you know if this is true?

Don't know if that's true, but I would guess not. A 6x9 speaker is a 6x9, not sure how theirs would be much different than any other. Either way I'm sure there is a way to seal them up pretty good
