Hi guys, another newbie with a few questions. I have a 16 Limited and would like a similar upgrade as the OP. If I go with 4 Polk MM652s, do I just need adapters for the fairing? Can the adapters for the fairing be used with the Rushmore speaker/fairing support brackets? Would I need a mounting tray for the Soundstream PN4.1000D? Is this the right amp, as one of the reviews said it was discontinued?
Also, I have the WHIM installed where the CB used to be. Any amp size/mounting issues? I am guessing that I would need at least 10 ga wire to the battery and ground? Can the stock speakers wires be used both front and back? Line leveler recommendations? Are they different for Rushmores? Possibly Biketronics? You probably want to start a new thread, I think you will get more specific answers for your bike. This thread is older and was referring to pre-rushmore bikes.

Hey Red! Yes, it's a pretty slick unit...that's why I prefer it over others. Once installed, you just select "aux" and your phone would pair up automatically just like it would in your vehicle. You can then control it via the hand controls and info like song & artist will be displayed on the stock HU (that's one of the reasons why I want to get the backlight conversion done on mine).
As I mentioned above, now that I have it, it's pretty compact and should be able to locate it somewhere. Yes, the instructions say to mount on top of the HU but I was looking at that j&m bracket as well and don't see why both the CB module & the BT unit wouldn't fit underneath. The limiting factor will be the length of the patch/interface harness. My bike is in storage and not accessible right now but I'm thinking it should work. Leaves above the HU open for amp install then. If you go for it and order the j&m bracket, let me know how it works out.
I'm not really sure how the USB functions. Will have to look into that but it's not of high priority for me. As long as I can stream my tunes from my iPhone via BT...I'm happy! If the USB would charge my phone, that would be a bonus.
The Iron Cross BT mod is $140 + shipping your HU. As I'm in Canada, our options are very limited so I got my Metra unit off ebay for $188 + shipping. I see in the US, many items are shipped for free...lucky buggers! With a quick search, here's a site I found where it's selling for $169. You may find it even cheaper. Good Luck!
I just installed one in my 09 Street Glide. There is actually a BT option on the HK screen with this installed (not AUX) and it pairs very easily. The USB cord that comes with it is for charging, so far it doesn't do anything else. The acc or power has to be on to the radio for it to charge.

When you find it on Amazon check out the reviews, the reviews there are WAY more helpful than any other info I could find, one guy said the USB is for charging only, so it's a bonus for you but no playback from it.... Bummer.
I will check into some brackets and let you know for sure but im sure something could be fabed up easy enough. My fairing is off right now so if there is anything you need to know just let me know. I don't see any issue at all with harness limitations. I just placed my order at biketronics yesterday so I need to call and see if this will hook up with all that stuff but I just mailed my radio to iron cross for pre amps and did not order the bt mod, I will either get the metra or use my plug in for now. Took the 3 year old to breakfast and heading to the dealer next to check and see if they have any cvo lower speaker pods and grills.
I used the J&M bracket for under the radio, as have a PN4.520 amp on top of the radio. The harness is not too bad, in fact it actually gave me a little more room to deal with to route the harness over the top of the amp rather than trying to stuff everything to one side. Still a pain in the ****.
I have also had an issue after riding with it that the CB and the BTD01 do not seem to work together. I turned on my music with the CB on and could not "key-up". Turned off the bluetooth and suddenly the CB worked, but the BT would not. Tried a couple of times but could not get both to work at the same time. I found that odd since the modules are supposed to work together with the CB muting everything when it is activated. I have contacted Metra and we are working on a work around. My next step is to take the fairing back off and change the input method that it is currently using. I personally don't think that will work, but I'll try anything. If anyone else is having this problem please chime in.

Yes...sorry I gapped on that with the BT option actually showing up on the HU.
Don't like the fact though that the BT unit and CB don't "play" well together. Please keep me posted if you get some kind of a fix from Metra for this. This is one of the reasons for keeping the stock HU...having the CB function. Sure would be nice if it worked with the BT.
Not sure if it's really going to be an issue, or if it is from not re-wiring it to be on the SAT channel of the radio. I'll post something when I get it figured out.
I may also call Iron Cross Audio and see if they have had any issues like this. They are the kings when it comes to the HK radios.
I have finally gotten my set up installed, just waiting on my lowers as stated in another thread. I mounted my amp on top of the radio with velco, cb and metra under the radio with Velcro as well and wrapped a long zip tie around the whole deal and installed it as one unit. Looks clean and installed easily. The metra seems to work as it should and has very good sq but as others have stated loses a bit of volume compared to the fm and cd.... Still plenty loud. I did try my cb and it works but I have not tried the cb and metra together to see if I have that problem. I will be riding in a few weeks and see what mine does. Does your street glide have a speaker switch?
