I've ran the Sound Stream PN 4.520D and the PN 4.1000D in my 07 Road Glide. They worked well, never shut down. I like the speaker connection better on the
4.1000D as it is "conventional". The 520 uses a proprietary plug that you have to splice the speaker wired onto. Works, just makes the install a little more time consuming.
I ran 2 Hertz HCX165's and 2 Hertz HCX690's off them. Everything woke up when I swapped the 520 for the 1000.
If the 1000 will fit in your fairing I would go for that. Sorry, can't comment on fitment in a batwing bike.
Hated it. Trashed my MPX mili 6.5s. Never shut down or got hit though. Just didnt like the output signals. More or less screamed at the speakers with trashy signals.
this amp is actually pretty thin compared to some others out there. 4.75" is easy to deal with.
I think he means left to right in his picture. It is around 10" in that dimension I think. I think the OP said he had an 09 UC. I think that fairing is the same as my 2010 and I fit a PN4.1000d in there. The main thing was trimming the bottom of the gauges to allow it to slide back far enough. After that it was fine.
I really like that amp for what I wanted it for. It is driving six speakers without breaking a sweat. Even at 70+ mph with Rinehart true duals blasting away I have no problems hearing the tunes.
The hcx 165's are a damn solid speaker up front and the mpx 690.3's are about the best you can get for the rears right now. For what ever reason the hcx 6x9 don't sound as good and the mpx 165.3 don't sound as good as the hcx. Go figure.
