I bought the same kit on Amazon from Volunteer Audio. I couldnt be happier wish I would have done this long ago. I have no problems with glare I dont wear gloves but as the others have mentioned seems to be hit or miss. This is truly a plug and play kit and the sound quality is much better.
Are you still able to use the stock thumb switches to control the unit?
Are you able to access the playlist on a thumb drive and search for music via artist or song as you can with the stock 6.5 using the thumb controls?
I know there is a give and take when going aftermarket these are just a few questions that popped into my head.
I'm still getting used to it, but the thumb controls work in a fairly basic way: you can go to the next/prev track, raise/lower volume, switch sources. However, you don't seem to be able to search or navigate play lists etc..
Having said that, if you use Android Auto (not sure about Apply play), you can use voice commands to do many things including song selection and navigation. The radio includes a microphone that you can mount. On my RG, it is under the fairing so not visible, but still works (so far).
I recently posted a video in the vid thread with pretty much your exact setup if you're curious. I haven't used or tried to use with gloves yet, but I'm pretty happy with handlebar controls and the glare isn't something that has pissed me off or even made me take notice to this point. Wish I would have done the swap 2 years ago.
