Ok..be patient..this may be remedial but havent found my questions searching forums. I want to do things the right/best way now that im adding 2nd amp in fairing.
Power/ground wire from battery to fairing
1. use 4g for ground as well? (I know 4g for power)
2. In line fuse. What size? I believe 1 amp is rated 35a and other is 40a. What size do I use and what is the preferred /best type of fuse?
In Fairing - Need distribution blocks - 4g to 8g
1. Do I use 2 seperate ones. 1 for power (one 4g to two 8g out) and another for ground? Or is there 1 larger one that has two in (pos/neg) and 4 out 8g to both amps?
2. Again, best one to use?
Thanks again.. I try to research my questions, but sometimes just cant find what I need.
2 separate fused 4awg to 8awg d-blocks. One for power, one for ground. Easier to tuck away.
100a fuse on 4 awg power wire at battery.
40a ish fuses at d-blocks.
No need to fuse twice. Fuse at the battery on the 4awg protect the battery, amps are already fused.
I always fuse for the wire that's in play. The 4awg has a max ampere rating as does 8, 10, etc. Might be overkill but any electrical wires on any of my thangs are fused to protect not just the accessory but the wire ratings as well.
Thanks T. Like most things, several ways to skin a cat i guess. I dont mind overkill.. seems like 2 different ways to go, just trying to learn. I need to order wire and fuses, etc. Hogtunes adapters on the way and everything else here.
i dont have anyone i know to help or guide me locally....so I rely on you guys on this forum. Im on an island over here..lol
instead of two separate d-blocks, could a guy use this one? One side for power one side for ground? Would obviously have to fuse somewhere other than the d-block.

Something like this would be cool, but in pic #3 it shows that's a solid block. If there was one that kept the sides/polarities separate, that would work. I'd be sure they are insulated well between the sides, but again, would be nice.

I have one on my bench. In doing research it indicated guys were using for both pos and neg. I'll check it out more when I get home. I'll jump a 9V battery to it and see if I can get a DMM to read out.
There are dual ones for power and ground, no fuse in them. I saw this stinger one. Would need to fuse at battery, although im not sure what size fuse if only using 1 fuse at battery for both amps.
