Default JL ZR650 CSI's

I bought these a couple years ago and given the price paid by myself and original owner don't like the idea of moving them to the shelf. A search found little info.

I would characterize the sound as a bit bright and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with these speakers, as the crossovers have some adjustibility options. I know I could pull them out and experiment with them but it is a bit of a PITA because of how I have them mounted. Looking for some opinions of the suitibility of these speakers for sled audio and suggestions on crossover adjustment.

Two-way Crossover System: The ZR component system utilizes a true 2-way crossover system:
  • High Pass: On the tweeters is a second order Butterworth high-pass filter utilizing a top-quality, metallized polypropylene capacitor combined with a low-loss, 16-gauge, air-core inductor. Five tweeter level settings are selectable via jumper pins connected to a bank of super-premium, non-inductive, non-magnetic, 1% tolerance Mills resistors mounted to an extruded aluminum heat sink. Available levels are +1.5dB, Reference, -1.5dB, -3.0dB and -4.5dB.
  • Low Pass: The low-pass section features a first order filter with four levels of user-definable midrange presence achieved via a custom-engineered, series-segmented, air core inductor. The midrange presence levels are selected via a heavy brass jumper bar mounted on each network's circuit board, permitting the user to tailor the response for a variety of mounting angles and listening environments. Levels include 1 (Low), 2, 3 (Reference), and 4 (High).
Currently running these with a ARC Moto Amp and could switch to a BT4180... Speakers rated 89.5 db sensitivity... Should these get loud? Changing out my rears from JL M770's to a 6x9 , from RF kit.

Run them jumper pins to -3 and give it a shot. If that doesn't help, go all the way to the 4.5 selection but that might be "whisper mode" at highway speeds.

I’ve had those speakers. I wouldn’t characterize them as no where near bright. What amp are you running and what HU?

Perhaps "Bright" is the wrong term, just seems to my ears that the highs are really high... Stock HU with BT Line Levelers. I was running a Arc Moto 600.4 could switch to a BT 4180.

Stuck right now as I sent my Line Levelers off to BT for a check up.I bought them used. Hope they can turn them around pretty quick.

Sawing holes in my lids for the RF kit. The RF speaks don't look to impressive, but I've read some good comments. Can decide to try them out or sell as new and get some DD MVO69s????

If memory serves me correct Travelingypsye tried the DD 6x9 in the Rockford lid kit and they wouldn’t work without modifications. I know the Hertz MPX 6x9 fit no problem.
