Default Sv 165's

Installed on a buddies bike this past week 16 SGS
sv 165's , DD B3 horn's running in parallel and bridged a DA 4v2 to the front.

This thing is loud and clear. He picked up the kit from Cameron Johnson. Sounds damn good.
I also added the Rockford lid kit. Those 6x9 that come with the kit did help round out a good sounding bike.

I wondered if those sv 165's sounded good. The 6x9's in that kit don't look like much but they do have good sound to them. Both Gann and myself laughed at them until he hooked them up. Thanks for the heads up.

Probably one of the better sound quality PA speakers on the market. It always seems to find its way back in my fairing as I test other stuff.

Good instal Juice!!! Ur bud is gonna be a happy camper.

They (the SV's) do sound good.

He already had a Alpine KTP 445 U in the fairing. I bridged that and sent 90 watts RMS to those 6x9's in the kit, they look and feel flimsy but they put out a decent sound. Now if you over power them I am sure the magic smoke will rise.

Well funny you ask.
I Have another friend with a DB meter.
The sv's got 125 DB on the meter.
My system came in at 123.4 DB
But my system is head and shoulder above this bike. more speaker's, more watts, more lows.

But i am sending PRV's 75watts each
I am sending the SV's 300watts each

If you have the extra channels throw some more power to the PRV they will really sing then.

I wouldn't go on any DB meter numbers that's not a Term Lab. You can spike many of the hand held ones by just raising frequencies on your EQ. Even the Audio Control one that's a reputable brand I've see the same bike drop from 136db to 129, and another bike go from 133 to 131 on a term lab. So you one could argue that the first bike using the Audio control was louder when it really wasn't.

The SV's have GREAT vocal sound quality. The downside to SV's is 1. they cost a lot, 2. They require much more power than other popular PA brands and 3. They don't really play low freqs too well. I've heard some awesome bikes with Hertz SV speakers, we have bike a named King Kong at our shop with all Hertz SV's up front and it's an incredible bike that won every show last year but it also has four 12 inch subs! I think on the right set up they have a really good clean sound, I think for the majority of the set-ups discussed on this forum the PRV's or Beyma's (if you want to spend the money) are a better option.

Pound for pound, imho the PRV are much louder but the SV are superior regarding sound quality, detail, and clarity. Just depends on what unicorn ur chasing and how it all ties into each individual sled and riding style.

Regardless, as a rider at some point the dB level becomes less relevant and overall presence at the various sound-stages becomes the focus. 123 from the fairing is probably more than suitable to rip ur ears off after several minutes of riding.
