Default Installing Some Kicker componets

I was pointed in this direction as you kind folks may be able to help me, currently I have a 2016 CVO Road Glide Ultra, and the stereo stinks, lets leave it at that. I have a 2016 SGS that I did a simple up grade using some Rockford Fosgate components and it sounds fine to me, never even had to flash the system. So now its time to upgrade the CVO, cant hear it over 70MPH.

So my lovely wife purchased some items that id like to install, a Kicker amp PXA300.4 (4 channel amp) along with 4 PS 6.5 Speakers (all 2ohm stuff). So my question is, what will I need to do to install this, cut up my current wiring harness? Flash the radio? Kicker sells a TRHDP Programmer that can flash it, is this worth it?

The fosgate kit I bought for my SGS came with a nice plug and play install kit, this kit does not, but it seems simple, right?

In my honest opinion, I would send the kicker setup back and get another RF kit if you liked the first one. That amp is rated at 50x4 at 4 ohm and 75x4 at 2 ohm. If for what ever reason you don't like those kicker speakers, you are limited to using only 2 ohm speakers as a replacement. 50x4 just isn't enough to be heard at speed with most coax speakers unless you have only 2 speakers then it can be bridged for 150x2 at 4 ohm and that may be too much for those speakers. I am not familiar with those speakers so I don't know what they will handle. The goal is to have a better sounding setup while going down the road and im not sure that setup will have enough to get the job done.

BTW, you would probably be better off just buying the right pieces instead of a "kit" as you can save $$ and achieve a better sounding setup in the end which is the goal.

@Travelingypsye...
Question: This is the number from the Kicker Amp...@ 14.4V, 2Ω stereo, ≤ 1% THD+N : 75 x 4......that is 75 watts at all 4 channels at 2 ohms, right?

This is the numbers from my Fosgate amp....
75 Watts x 4 @ 4-Ohm.....Same power

Please excuse my ignorance, but its the same power? Is 2 ohm versus 4 ohm different for sound?

What Fosgate amp are you talking about? Ohm independence is the resistance that a speaker has in the circuit. The lower the ohm, the less resistance it has and less power needed to operate it. That is good when using a low powered amp. The problem is, you can loose SQ with lower ohms. Infinity speakers use 2 ohm in most of their speakers and able to provide a decent sound with less power. Most speakers are 4ohm and require more power to produce their sound but they will produce a better SQ in most cases with higher tier speakers. Pro audio speakers are 4-8 ohms and although they produce only a certain spectrum of hrz(frequency range) they produce that sound at a higher SQ than a full range speaker (coax). In a lot of cases a good set of coax will be great for your car as it is a sealed unit but pro audio will provide a higher volume/SQ while riding in the open air and that is the unicorn we are all chasing. What sounds good to you may sound like crap to someone else. That's why there is so much discussion on here about amps, speakers, dsp's, head units ect. There are 1000's of different combinations out there but the basics (ohms vs. power needed to run speakers) remain constant. Most of the gurus here have started with a simple amp/speaker upgrade but have progressed to pro audio especially on a scooter as it can be hard to find that perfect sound at 70-80 mph.

Hope this helps.

The Amp I used last time was the Fosgate PBR 300X4, paired with 2 TMS 65 speakers.....When I say it was good, obviously its my opinion but it was ok, certainly louder than stock. I purchased the Fosgate install kit and it was plug and play....Worked well for me....This time, maybe I didn't mention it, my wife bought this stuff as a gift so I am trying to make it work.... Thank you for all the help.

Easy way to install is get a biketronics bt355, that will hook to factory wiring and adapt to rca for amp input. Then run new wire out to speakers. If you want fade you will need 2 bt355.

Now that I look back you have a cvo so do you have a boom amp in the setup now? If so, are going to remove the boom amp and put in the kicker setup? As the others eluded to, you may or may not need a bt355. If you have the boom amp in play now then the hu may already be flashed to flatten out the signal.

Just food for thought.
