My Kappa 62 ix arrive tomorrow and I have a question concerning speaker wires. I have a Hougtunes 24.2 amp that I wish to keep (I know there are better amps out there but I'll try the sound with the Hougtunes amp.). My question is "Can I use the current speaker wires from the amp for the new Kappa 62ix ?
thanks, Bill
The Kappas have screw in speaker wire terminals (i.e. designed to clamp down on bare & preferably tinned wires). So it all depends on what connectors are being used to terminate the speaker wire ends right now.
To answer your question, yes, I have no reason to believe you can't.
However, the hogtunes amp is rated at >32 watts/channel at 2 ohms. Not a very specific amount, and honestly you will be very underwhelmed by the speakers with that amp.
I recently installed a set of kappas in my friends ultra and used a soundstream PN4.520 and it worked great. The amp pushes out around 130 watts at 2 ohms and would be much better for the kappas. You can pick one up online for around $120.
