I am completely new to audio on bikes. Trying to piece it all together but the more I read the more I get confused. Here is the situation:
2019 Street Glide
I have the upgraded radio
I want to do the fairing speakers now, add lids later.
$500-$700 budget for phase 1
looking for an amp and speakers
Prefer plug and play type set up, dont really want to cut into wires.
Listen to mostly country and rock
Lot of cruising at 80mph
As I said, I am completely new to this, so please dont tell me to use the search function unless there is a write up on how to do the entire process without using the Rockford or hogtunes setup. When I try to search for all the information needed I am unsure of what exactly I need to use (line leveler, wiring, trigger source) in this specific situation.
You'll need a BT355 Line Leveler, a set of Stinger 1.5 RCA's, 6' of 8g wire for each Pos & Neg amp connection and HD makes a pigtail adapter that will do it for the trigger wire and 14-16g speaker wire.
After that you just need to pick a 4ch amp and speakers.
-what is the hd part number for the pigtail? And what does it tap off of ?
-What are the 3 most common speakers that people seem to recommend that don’t need any/much modification to fit? If it needs a trim ring adapter are people just using the Metras ? What about for the grills, just the Harley ones? I see some people are cutting in their tweeters to their grills, I’m not opposed to that as it isn’t modifying the inner fairing, but I do wanna be in that 200-300 dollar price range.
-are most people purchasing amps from companies sell them with the street glide mounting bracket? If so what seems to be the most popular brands of those in that 300-500 dollar price range?
I know audio is a preference thing, so that’s why I’m asking for a few options as I don’t wanna start the whole this brand is better than this brand conversation.

Thanks again for the help!
There is no HD pigtail needed for the setup. The bt 355 line leveler will plug direct into the hu output for the speakers and a set of rca cables will plug into that LL and go into your amp. Speakers are a personal preference, Hertz hcx/cpx/mpx, infinity kappas(the new ones) , polk mm652, wdx motos and arc 602's are all decent speakers. Hog tune grills are the preferred grills used in most applications. Cutting grills for tweeters are for pro audio setups but no need for that if you are using coax speakers like all mentioned above.
Solid amps for your setup and have the ability to add lids in the future include, stinger spx 700/4, rf tm400x4ad, ss pn4.1000, jl 600/4 and focal sport. All of those amps with any of the speakers mentioned above will provide a good setup if tuned properly. You will need a wire harness to run to the battery for the amp power supply.
There are other options out there as others may chime in but all mentioned above are solid performers.

wow! Thanks for the great info. Are there any amp mounts I should be looking for? Also, in terms of the amp wiring harness, is it just the 2- 8 gauge wires mentioned above or is there more to it ? Also what will trigger the amp to come on if there is no pigtail mentioned above ? What do I tap into ?
You will want the pigtail i referred to above. It will plug into the unused plug at the upper right side of the fairing (brake side by the speaker pod). If not that, you'll have to tap off of the 12v accessory port in the right lower fairing.
I didn't mention in my first response, you will also want an inline fuse and holder in that positive cable. Closer to the battery, the better. The fuse rating will depend on which amp you purchase.

And don't be afraid to look at component speakers. Pound for pound, dollar for dollar they are typically better performing than coax, with an emphasis on "typically" as there are indeed some awesome coax as well.
if you decide to go the J&M ROKKER route, you can locate the fairing speakers and 700w 4-ch ROKKER amp here, https://www.jmcorp.com/SeeProducts.asp?PF=49 and then add the rear speakers at a later time ,,,,,,
everything is 100% plug-n-play, and the new amplifier tune for use with the 2019 GTS radio is awesome ,,,,,, as well as all 2014-2018 Infotainment radios ,,,,,

Sorry I miss understood the pigtail part, for the remote. I thought the Op was referring to the LL as a pigtail. That pigtail that DSM mentioned will keep you from cutting any wires off the HU thus taking any chance of voiding your warranty.
