Default HU and amp LP crossovers

Any disadvantage to using both hi pass crossovers in HU and in amp?

Have Sony ax5000 HP set at 100Hz, and amp HP set ~ “10:00” level (using analog clock hour hand reference where “7:30” is 40 hz and “4:30” is 400hz)

Seems to work, probably results in sharper cutoff of lower frequencies, Just two fairing speakers, HCX.

If your HU HPF is set to 100, that is the lowest freq your amp will receive

Good to know. I wasn’t aware that it was a sharp cutoff, unlike the typical 12db shoulder of many amplifiers.
So I guess I don’t need high pass filter in the amp.

In a situation where your amp (running 4 channels, 2 separate pairs of speakers) is receiving a single input from head unit, front or rear pre-amp outputs on head unit, and the 2 pair of speakers you are running require different cut-off points thru HPF, then you need to use the hpf on the amp.
this usually occurs when multiple amps are used and the front or rear signals from head unit are split to feed 4 channel input of amp.
I hope that makes sense
