Last question, would the Mmats 6.5" PA601 Mid base in the fairing and Tweeter in my mirror holes combo give me any better sound than just the PA601CX 6.5 full range?
Last question, would the Mmats 6.5" PA601 Mid base in the fairing and Tweeter in my mirror holes combo give me any better sound than just the PA601CX 6.5 full range?
In my opinion no and not worth the effort to drill holes in the fairing for the tweeter/horns. For some reason the 601 woofers just don't sound as good as the 601cx. Plus the crossovers will take up more room.
Keep your eye open in the audio for sale section. Good stuff can be found...plug...I got some great hertz 6.5 and cerwin vega b52 for sale now as a package deal.
Well TravelingGypsy came to my garage and worked his tuning magic :-) ... the sound from only 2 speakers is nothing short of amazing, and he was able to bring out the potential in a basic setup.... and the MMats 4110 amp and 601cx speakers are very very impressive... but without tuning I would have been nowhere, so thank you to TG :-)... a small world it is :-)
BTW< I added the DYNAMAT only because I have a box of spare sheets laying around and thought I would use them.. and 2 layers of this stuff seemed to tighten up the rattles and it even sounded slightly more solid... at riding speed, who knows, but it was a zero effort deal for me,, so it was worth a try....so by Saturday, I can do a sound video if anyone would want to hear it,
Total investment = @ $625 and worth every penny :-)
It is amazing what those 601cx can produce and in my opinion they sound even better in the pods than on the brackets. That setup with the 4110 amp get real loud quick and stay clear thru the whole spectrum for just a fairing only setup. Im glad it sounds good and I was happy to help a fellow brother. It IS a small world.
I would love to see a picture of where you ended up in your amp settings, gains specifically. I have the same amp and speakers and I feel I may be a bit on the conservative side on the gains.
