It would be worth looking to see what it is grounded to also. Low voltage causes all kinds of strange things to happen.

you said you got it wet. how long ago? if recent let it dry out and see what happens

As both said, 1. let it dry well and 2 check grounds/battery.

Thanks for the help guys. I initally thought that the unit might have to dry, so I left it sit for a couple of weeks but still have the same issue. Just noticed that after the loud thump and power going out, when it powers back up the clock is reset back to 1:00 as if the battery cable were disconnected.

You very well may have a weak battery also. Does it start ok?

Yeah, starts fine Keep it on a tender.

I would say it is most likely your HU since it has been a couple of weeks since the rain it should be dry by now.
