It took me a second to realize there was only one character different in the model number. They look the same and even seem to cost the same but that tuning app might be a futureproof feature.
Yeah that's the one I'm referring too. Actually that's the only one I've seen.
I like the 998, but I think it is discontinued (no longer on KW website) but you can still find them. I would try the Marine rated KMR-D772BT 5 volt pre outs, 13 band EQ , only thing no DSP like the 998!

[QUOTE=marcodarq;17964471]just for the record Mr French, there is no system or set up that a DSP will not improve.

I never said that it wouldnt. My point is this the OP was asking about HUs. No where
did I see him ask what DSP should I get. Sometines people are legit looking for just a HU
nothing else. Just because it may have a DSP doesnt mean they are looking at it for that
function. Theres way too much of a DSP push given right away to many people on here when they
are just starting out. While its good to suggest thinking about one in their build for their budget maybe it shouldnt be the main focus. I know of a couple great systems that dont run a DSP and they sound phenomenal. So for those who seem to
be on every thread with their suggestions and lengthy explanations and DSP expertise maybe lets take a step back and realize what the OP is really asking. Like yooper said maybe its not even for his sled. Maybe for a buddy who just needs
to replace his stock HU nothing else? Food for thought right!

Im in agreement here, regardless as to my wiseass remark to Frenchi before, as we are good friends, and i know his reply about a DSP was in humor.
I agree that a good DSP will maximize any system, but many, many systems will never see a DSP, and that is basically where we all start, and most of us stay there.
I have alot of guys ask me what is the best upgrade for a hu, so that is why i waas throwing it out here for you guys to help me out, as i surely cant test many out myself.
Thanks for the input on the new ones that are makin good reviews, and the old reliable such as the 149. 998, and mex 70
