One of the reasons folks thought of DSPs is because Yoop mentioned line voltage and slope adjustments as his concerns.

Is slope adjustment very common in head units? I still have a truck with a cassette deck in it so I haven't had the cash or desire to swap them out very much.

My new truck (well I bought it new in 1990) does have a CD player in it but it's about 15 years old so no AUX jack or DSP thingies.

Not everyone here knows who is personal friends with who, so to me it appeared just another smartass post that i see so frequently from Frenchie. since Mr. F has not responded to my PM, I don't know anything else, so sorry.
I did make a HU offering at the start, without mention of a dsp. so I hope that keeps me out of the crap.

Big fan of Alpine HU...Going strong with BT amp speakers.

Looking at a HU and appreciate the Alpine info. Question...Is there a way to use the stock hand controls with this HU, and if so what is needed as an interface etc?

Yes you will need a mount and an interface. I strongly recommend the Hawg Wired HUA470. It's worth every dollar. There are cheaper versions from Scosche and Metra.

Thanks for the reply! Just ordered the components below. Thanks to all for this post! On my way to a good setup I believe (next step will be replacing the hogtunes)
- Alpine CDE-HD149BT based on recommendations on this thread $228 on Amazon
- Metra 99-9613 - 1998-2013 HD Stereo Install Kit w/Handlebar Control (found another thread since my op and this response) $84.95 on Amazon
- 4yr replacement plan for the Alpine (just in case rain kills it) $21.78 on Amazon

Go to Biketronics and order the BT68 splash guard for $20. It'll save your radio in a rain storm. Very easy push on pull off cover that works!!!
