Default 16 RGU 4 speaker upgrade

Up front, I have read so many threads here and have learned a ton so far.

I am planning a full upgrade (fairing and Tour Pack) to the audio in my 2016 Road Glide Ultra.

I have two setups in my head but I want your advice on which one would sound better than the other or if you think something else would be better.

I don't think I am going to start chasing the magical unicorn but I guess that is always a possibility. For now I am looking for ease of install/tune and somewhat budget minded. I am not interested in any of the "Plug and Play kits". I'm looking to stay under $800 or so. I am looking for more volume and clarity. I listen to mostly newer alternative rock/pop and some classis rock. I have a passenger (10 year old daughter) about 50% of the time. Not interested in components, lower fairing or lid speakers at this time. Just a solid 4 coax system.

Set up #1
Stock head unit
BT LL Ultra kit
CV B54
4 Kappa 62ix speakers

Set up #2
Stock head unit
BT LL Ultra kit
SS PN4.1000d
4 Polk MM652 or Hertz HCX 165

These are the two setup that are leading right now after way too much reading. Could the experts here please let me know what you like between these two and also give other advise if you think there is something else out there I may want to check out.

BTW I do know the challenges involved in fitting the PN4.1000d under the fairing of the RG and I'm ok with that.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Marc

No expert but if the two I think option two is the way to go.
Get the J&M amp tray from an Indy and u will be very glad u did.
HCX (or comparable) in the fairing and Polks or Kappas in the TP. Polks should drop in and not sure about the newer Kappas.

Also, keep an eye on the next gen DB Moto coax for ur fairing that are supposed to be rolling out soon. If they too a little brightness out of those then that very well could be a game changing coax speaker for average to above average installs. Not sure if the pricing but I did see that some shops are already taking pre-orders.

Thanks Tailwind. Im pretty sure the J&M amp tray is only for the Batwings. I have the shark fairing (RGU). Thanks for the tip on the DB motos. I put a two speaker setup in my wifes SGS last year with the B52 and a set of BT Titan IIs and it works but, I think it is too brite so that may be something I look into for her bike as well.

What is the reason you suggest the HCX in the fairing and the Polks or Kappas in the TP?

Thanks,

Marc

My bad on the tray. Details like actual sled model might be important info for me to process. Sorry.

In this tier, the HCX are more detailed thus the fairing & the Polks are a good compliment with a bit of warmth & presence. The Kappas are just not good on my ears but if u have experience w them & it fits ur budget then run w it. Lots of folks like them.

I rarely put any of the same sets of speakers on a sled unless they are just damn awesome and/or u have the ability tuning wise to capture slightly different aspect of their capabilities. Every speaker has its weakness thus if u have more than one stage try and use the rear & dude stages as complimentary platforms. But get the best damn stuff possible identified your fairing / front stage and build around it.

That makes a lot of sense! Also, I dont have any experiance with the Kappas. I just see them suggested here a lot. Probably because of the quality for the price. Thanks again Tailwind.

I know its early and people have not logged on yet but I would be interested in other opnions.
