As I chase the Unicorn and proceed with upgrade 3 I called RF today with a couple newbie questions about installing / tuning the DSR1. I was asking if there was a way I could run 8 speakers and 2 horns with the 8 channel outputs, and he said I could split the channel for the fairing and lowers (SV 165 and MPX 165.3 Pro respectively) as they would tune the same anyway. Then we talked about if I added a sub he said I could split a channel for the rear 6 X 9 and 6.5 and put those on one channel as they would tune the same. So when I hung up I am wondering, if all the 6,5s and the 6 X 9s all tune the same, why would I install the DSP? I thought the idea was to tune each speaker individual frequency signal, but he said all I would lose sharing channels would be timing the speakers. So couldn't i just tune the EQ in the Kenwood HU if all the speakers are tuned same?
I already have the DSP, just not installed yet. I have the MPX 165.3 Pro in the fairing (The crossovers and tweeters are in the lowers but connected to the MPX's). I have the SV165's in the lowers. I have ST25 horns in the Fairing gauge location beside the HU (Those are not live right now, need power for them). I have Kicker PS692 6 X 9 2 Ohm in the lids (Not happy with those but going to make the final decision after DSP), and I have Kicker KSC6504 (Not happy with those but going to make the final decision after DSP)
I currently Have (2) Diamond Audi Micro 4 amps, I think I need to either do a something like a 250.2 for the horns, or Maybe something like a Bridged SD 400.4 for the 6 X 9 S and use the open channel off the Micro 4 for the horns. Regardless I need another amp, or a 5 / 6 channel amp. I will buy stuff, money is not the most important thing but not THROWING money away either. Just want the best highway system I can build within a "reasonable" budget
He’s wrong about tuning but right about channel splitting. You can split channels and the DSR allows you to individually tune outputs, eq, and crossover for each individual channel. So splitting fronts to power fairing and lowers is fine because you can tune them individually. This is what I’ve done because I needed 10 inputs but didn’t have enough outputs.

U just wire each set of speakers on a channel in parallel. But ur gonna need the amp watt logistics to make it work.
Wiring a given set of speakers in parallel or series to obtain a resistance that a given amp would like and perform best at. Clear as Mud right?
Some speakers are 8, 4, or 2 ohm. Some amps are happy at 2, or 4 ohm. Some amps are only happy when bridged to a 4 ohm load and some are happy bridged at a 2 ohm load(resistance).
