So i've been lurking for some time now and decided it's finally time to get rolling on my stereo upgrade seeing as how winter doesn't want to settle down here in Wisconsin. My music style is usually heavy metal (Lamb Of God, Pantera, Slipknot, etc.) and sometimes some older hip hop. My original goal was to have an 8 speaker setup but i'm not totally sold on the idea of putting speakers in my bag lids. Weather can be screwy here so i usually have my bags full with all my possible gear. I already have the Aquatic head unit (AQ-MP-5UBT-HS). I also have a pair of the DB WDX6MOTO speakers that i planned on putting in the lowers and also have 2 Soundigital 800.4 amps (4 ohm version). Looking for suggestions for the fairing speakers and also for the tour pack speakers. I also plan on purchasing the DSR1 as i begin the install. Suggestions on how to wire up the 6 speaker system would also be appreciated.

Where is WI are you located? Maybe some of the locals can let you hear some stuff. I'm just NW of Milwaukee
A good coax or component will probably be the best solution for you. Hard rock/ heavy metal is what I listen to as well and with only speakers in front you will want full range to make the music sound complete. I'm adding a dsp soon to try and tune my PA speakers to play metal the way it's supposed to be. I'm still learning but maybe others will chime in and give some ideas of what might work. The headunit and amps are gonna be your down fall as the aquatic has no tuning features and sd amps have a fixed crossover and some times for that music you need a little bit lower frequency in front of you in my opinion.
Edit. Just saw your adding a dsp, those amps will be strong for you
Altima with your DSP you should be able to get the Motos sounding pretty good. I have mine in the fairing though so I don't know what type of EQ curve to recommend for lower use. In my fairing I just use a basic smiley face EQ curve and it took out the brightness and gave them just a little bit of hit. Also you may want to test fit the Motos in the lowers on the bench. You may have to grind out the hole in the speaker box a little bit to get them to drop in. Hopefully someone who has run them in the lowers can chime in.
I'll give a shameless plug though I have Mmats 601.4s (4 ohm) in my lowers and they compliment the Motos in the fairing pretty good. I know there are better combos out there but I am satisfied with this arrangement for the price and also being able to maintain moisture resistance.
I'm not set in stone on having the Motos in the lowers either. Just guessing that was a good location by all the research that i have been doing. A lot of info out there for me to digest.
