Amp Decision
I have a Soundtream pn4.1000d powering Vo 6x9`s on front channels and two Prv mb600ft`s bridged on rear channels. I want to replace this amp with a Soundigital 800.4 or 1200.4. Do I really need the 1200.4 putting 788 watts rms into these 8`s? I`m thinking 522 watts rms will be more than enough. The sensitivity of 8`s are 96 db.
what is the ohm rating on the PRV? if they are 8 ohm like I rememeber, you have to remember that if you are going to bridge the amp and wiring the speakers in parallel to get that 522 watts, you still have to divide that by 2 also because you have the 2 speakers in play, that would let each speaker see 261 watts. it is my opinion that they need more than that, so i would use the 1200.4 if you have the room to install it.

The 800.4 would work but you would have little to no headroom.
My suggestion if you have the room would be to go with the 1200.4 4ohm version

The 1200.4 amp will put out more than the advertised specs. Also as the DC input voltage raises so does the output of these amps.
I know that Bagger Audio Labs did make rings just for those PRV Forte 8's. I would say hit up Haze, but he's not selling anymore .... just installing/tuning. So if you can find Henry, give him a yell and see if they still make them.
