Default Speaker Wiring

I tried to search this out, but I think I came across everything but this. I am running a Sony a5000 hu to an NVX amp. I need to wire the amp to the speakers. Obviously, I need to change out the speaker wire to some higher grade wire. How do I do this with the pods? Do I pull the literal HD plug from the pod, and just run wire straight from amp to speaker? Photos would help if anyone has some. I tried youtube but ended up watching a 20 minute video that didnt answer the question. Install starts tonight, cross your fingers.

Pull the plug, put a slice through the grommet to the wire and remove the stock wire.
Ream it out carefully with a drill bit bigger than the stock wire and put new wire through it.

You can just pull that plug and speaker terminals out and use the same grommet and hole to run the new wire.

Sweet, so just a razor knife to split one half of the gromet and run heavier gage. Thanks guys!

I feel lazy now. I just left the factory wire in the pod underneath some polyfil and ran my new wire through the grommet. I did use zip ties to secure it to the factory wire though where it ran along the frame rail. I guess that means I am still using the factory wire to some degree.
