What kind of amp would be good for a 4 speaker setup?

I guess Tour Pak or a Saddlebag would be the mounting spot.

Speakers behind you will be a huge dissapointment. I know you probably aren't wanting to hear these types of things, but I'm guessing your a rider and at speed the rear speakers fade away pretty quick.

The amp will depend on the speakers you select.

If u are in the go big or go home mind set regarding audio get some 8" lowers and some TP pod speakers and ur current audio expectations are gonna be blown away.

If u just don't like the look, it just a calculated decision regarding what's more important to u.

Well then keep the road king the way it is and wear headphones. Or sell it and get a street/road glide.

I've seen these used as speaker buckets on the crashbars. No idea how well they work. Options-photo676.jpg

Hmmm... That’s a great response, why didn’t I think of that?? SMH

So if you don’t put lowers on a Road King you can’t have any music other than headphones...

I bet you were at the top of your class weren’t you....

The issue with not putting lowers on is that you are not going to get the sound quality you are probably looking for with putting speakers on your bike.

I did a sound sound system for my buddy on his roadking and it involved 8 inch lowers. He can hear it doing 90 no problem. But that is because the sound is getting pulled to him from the wind. If you only have speakers behind you the wind is going to carry the majority of sound away. In order to be worth putting it all on you want a solid front stage that you can hear at speed.
You could always put highway pegs on to stretch your legs out and get more wind from around the lowers.

I have no experience with 8" lowers, although I am sure they would be the best option. Bigger is always better. You could go with 6.5" speakers in some aftermarket 6.5" vented lowers. That way you would still be getting a fair bit of air flow. Plus you would get the option of added protection on the cooler days.

I have seen pods mounted on crash bars, but have no idea where guys are getting them. I have also heard of guys modifying headlight buckets.
Handle bar speakers probably wouldn't do much on their own, but if you paired them up with something mounted off the crash bars, maybe you would be able to set it up for some reasonable sound.

The tour pack is simple enough, but a lot of sound can be lost at highway speed or if you add a passenger.
Speaker lids are not exactly within your budget, but maybe something to plan for in the future.
