Default Speakers lids and storage

Can anybody tell me or post pictures of how much packing space you lose in your bags if you change over to the factory style speaker lids? Bike is a 19 with the “stretched” bags and I usually use Dennis Kirk travel bags on trips. I don’t think the extra sound is worth loosing the ability to pack 4 days clothes and rain gear. I can’t get with the look of the tour packs just yet. Thanks

It all depends on what speaker you choose. The depth of the speaker changes with different brands and models. They usually post dimensions and specs on the websites.

I'm not in love with the tourpack look either. But sometimes, function comes over fashion.

Also different lids have different depth. Factory lids with an adapter to fit a 6x9 sit much lower than say, some of the cheaper lids that do not require an adapter and bolt to the top of the lid. They also tend to leak a lot more.

I have Bad Dad LED speaker lids which are close to factory style with 5x7 speakers, my bags are Top Shop extended, I use the Harley luggage bag inserts and can get far more than 4 days worth of stuff in there. My speakers don't get in the way of the inserts too much. I'm out of town so I can't get you pictures for a while. Like stated above, your speaker size will vary, and using adapters will change things too. You'll have to pack accordingly. Having said that, if I could do it over I would have put speakers in my lowers and not done speaker lids.

Having said that, I have a chopped tour pak, it's removable and it has been great to have on some extended trips I've gone on.
