So, could I improve my sound/volume if I were to boost the voltage going into my amp?
The stronger the pre-amp signal the less the amplifier has to work(less turn of the gain ****). So you should notice less hum/hiss thru your speakers with no volume and probably a cleaner sound parked. The difference on a bike going down the road though is probably negligible but you would have to try it to know for sure. A 2VAC pre-amp should be able to drive the vast majority of amplifiers to full power without clipping prematurely so overall system volume probably wouldn't improve. If you look at the specs for your amp it should tell you the input voltage range.

My DSR-1 does. I have the AX5000 as well and the output from the DSR-1 to my amps is about 5VAC on all 8 channels. I will check the DSi-2 when I install sometime in the next week or so.
